Serenity prayer (again)
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
the wisdom to know the difference.

About peace
Peace is something that we can bring about if we can actually learn to wake up a bit more as individuals and a lot more as a species; if we can learn to be fully what we actually already are; to reside in the inherent potential of what is possible for us, being human.

Let it be
It's not a matter of letting go — you would if you could. Instead of "Let it go," we should probably say "Let it be."

Time for balance
Time again to look back and think about the days gone, what have I done, what is still to be done... And I'm still happy about my life,
many changes this year,
a new house, and a nice one by the way, not a palace but just fine for me,
a new job on the way, something I really like to do, and I'm confident I'll make a living out of it for the next years,
many new friends, really nice people I've met,
it looks like I'm getting more stable, more grounded in my new life in Paris,
for the first time in years, I feel more confident about the future, feeling I'm on the right track for me.
Tomorrow I'll go away for a few days, in the silence of the retreat, the best place to welcome the new year.

Surfing
You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.

Body?
It's also helpful to realize that this very body that we have, that's sitting right here right now... with its aches and it pleasures... is exactly what we need to be fully human, fully awake, fully alive.

Lessons
...Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know.
Pema Chodron
Our real work in life is to awaken, to let the things that come into our circle awaken us. The only way to achieve this is to open ourselves, to be curious and to develop some sort of sympathy for whatever happen to us, in order to know its true nature and learn about it.
Anyway, it will stay around us till we learn our lesson. We can break our marriage, quit our job, frequent only places where they worship us, manipulate our world to flatten all difficulties, but the same old demons will appear again and again, till we learn our lesson, the lesson they came to teach us.

Death is a word
You cannot be frightened of the unknown because you do not know what the unknown is and so there is nothing to be frightened of. Death is a word, and it is the word, the image, that creates fear. So can you look at death without the image of death? As long as the image exists from which springs thought, thought must always create fear.

Truth comes in a flash
Truth or understanding comes in a flash, and that flash has no continuity; it is not within the field of time. Do see this for yourself. Understanding is fresh, instantaneous; it is not the continuity of something that has been. What has been cannot bring you understanding. As long as one is seeking a continuity - wanting permanency in relationship, in love, longing to find peace everlasting, and all the rest of it - one is pursuing something that is within the field of time and therefore does not belong to the timeless.
