Freeze!

This seems to be the new game in big cities: Freeze in public places. It's started in New York Grand Central Station, then in Trafalgar Square, London, last week, and an event is scheduled in Paris at the beginning of march. Kind of funny!

The conference of the birds

Tired of their useless and boring existence, the birds decided to search for their mythic king, Simorgh.

Most of them, disappointed or seduced by the marvels of the journey and the idols they encounter, stop on the way. But a small group of obstinate birds, lead by the hoopoe, fly through the deserts and the seven valleys of marvel and terror. Exhausted, their wings burned, they finally reach the residence of the king.

A thousand curtains open, a bright light is sparkling, but they can see only a mirror. They hear a voice telling them: "This mirror is the only reality. This Simorgh you looked for is yourselves. Don't expect anything else. You have traveled a long way to meet the traveler."

from a Persian poem of Farid-od-din Attâr

Living with something

It is only when you live with something intimately that you begin to understand it. But the moment you get used to it – get used to your own anxiety or envy or whatever it is – you are no longer living with it. If you live by a river, after a few days you do not hear the sound of the water any more, or if you have a picture in the room which you see every day you lose it after a week. It is the same with the mountains, the valleys, the trees – the same with your family, your husband, your wife. But to live with something like jealousy, envy or anxiety you must never get used to it, never accept it. You must care for it as you would care for a newly planted tree, protect it against the sun, against the storm. You must care for it, not condemn it or justify it. Therefore you begin to love it. When you care for it, you are beginning to love it.

Winter salad

bb9aee45ec55b58d3b924def71e4aa5a.jpgHere is my favourite salad of the moment, plain and simple: corn-salad, 2 or 3 sliced mushrooms, some garlic, parsley to make it nice, a few drops of olive oil and soy sauce. As simple as that!

Rythm of February

Yes I know it's not Friday yet, but since a friend have sent me this video this morning (could he be in love?), I thought it could be a nice song to sheer up this gloomy February... Enjoy!

Whom are you crying for?

When you lose someone you love you shed tears – are your tears for yourself or for the one who is dead? Are you crying for yourself or for another? Have you ever cried for another? Have you ever cried for your son who was killed on the battlefield? You have cried, but do those tears come out of self-pity or have you cried because a human being has been killed?
